Jason Munn Tribute Project

As I was in my graphic design classes, I would notice a lot of the graduates had a really intricate design style. But I knew I had success without that. So when we were assigned to design a poster after a famous designer, I was determined to find one that I could relate style wise to. That's when I found Jason Munn.

As I kept looking into Jason Munn, I grew more and more excited. Here was a popular designer who didn't use tons of detail. The message got across clearly and people loved the design. It really gave me new life as a designer.

The top poster was the class project. The project was to create a poster to announce to the school that the designer was coming to the campus to give a talk (they really weren't). I decided to play off of Jason Munn's nickname and book title "The Small Stakes." The design is craps table with the dice having his artwork on the front of his book on them.

The second was done in some free time I had. This was my favorite design by him so I decided to recreate it to combine practice and fun. I changed the colors a bit but overall I feel like I replicated the design well.

Jason Munn is still one of my favorite designers. I hope to get half of the recognition he has gotten in his lifetime. He has made a fan of me, that's for sure!
